When a card payment is disputed, the card network usually sides with the cardholder first and asks questions later. For physical goods, the seller can at least show a delivery receipt. For a license key, an invite link or an access code, there is nothing to send back: the buyer already has it, and the seller loses the money, the product and often a dispute fee on top.
Keys and access codes are also a favourite target for fraud with stolen cards. The fraudster buys keys, resells them, and the real cardholder files a chargeback weeks later, after the keys are long gone.
