Plenty of platforms say they are "crypto-friendly". Far fewer let a buyer pay in crypto at checkout and get their product automatically. This guide separates the two, lists the platforms that take crypto today and what they charge, and helps you pick one for what you sell.

What to look for

  1. Crypto at checkout, not bolted on. The buyer should pick a coin, pay, and have the order marked paid automatically, without you checking a wallet by hand.
  2. Automatic delivery that fits your product. Keys and codes need one-per-buyer delivery that never repeats; access links may be shared or unique.
  3. Fees you can calculate. Work out the cost at your current monthly sales, including any monthly plan.
  4. Buyer support. "Did my payment go through?" and "I lost my key" are the questions you will get. Order tracking and order-linked tickets save hours.
  5. Clear rules. Platforms that allow anything tend to disappear. Look for a published acceptable use policy.

ZappSell is crypto-only and built around keys, codes and access links: each unit is claimed from your stock before the email is sent, so a key is never delivered twice, and buyers get order tracking and order-linked tickets. It does not take cards, host files or handle sales tax for you. See crypto payments and instant delivery.

Sell.app suits a mixed audience: cards, PayPal and crypto in one checkout at a flat 3%. Shopify is a full commerce platform for physical and digital goods; crypto comes through add-on providers. Shoppy and Macan Sell are digital-goods stores with crypto. Side-by-side details: Sell.app, Shopify, Shoppy and Macan Sell vs ZappSell.

Popular platforms without crypto checkout

These are good platforms, but buyers cannot pay them in crypto:

PlatformPayment methodsFees
GumroadCards, PayPal10% + $0.50 per direct sale; 30% on Discover
PayhipStripe, PayPal5% (Free), 2% ($29/mo), 0% ($99/mo)
Lemon SqueezyCards, PayPal and more5% + 50¢, plus surcharges
PaddleCards and more5% + 50¢
SellfyStripe, PayPal0% fee; plans from $29/mo
Ko-fiStripe, PayPal5% on shop sales, or 0% with Gold ($12/mo)
Stan StoreStripe, PayPal0% fee; $29 or $99/mo
TeachableCards via StripeFrom $39/mo; 7.5% fee on Starter

Several of them act as Merchant of Record and handle sales tax or VAT for you (Gumroad, Lemon Squeezy and Paddle; Payhip for EU and UK VAT), which crypto-first stores generally do not. If you mainly want to add crypto to an existing card store, see does Gumroad accept crypto?

Platforms that went offline

Platform risk is real in this category. Sellix's domains were seized in January 2025 as part of Operation Talent, a coordinated law-enforcement action. Billgang and Sellpass have been offline since August 2026; the cause is disputed. Keep your own copy of your catalogue and stock wherever you sell, and prefer platforms with published rules on what may be sold, such as our Acceptable Use Policy.

How to choose

  • You sell license keys or codes to crypto buyers: choose a store with one-key-per-unit delivery and order tracking. See selling license keys.
  • You sell community or course access: check whether you need shared or unique invite links, and whether you need recurring billing (ZappSell sells one-off purchases and duration tiers). See selling access.
  • Your buyers are mixed card and crypto: a multi-gateway platform such as Sell.app, or run a card store and a crypto store side by side.
  • You need recurring subscriptions or tax handled for you: a Merchant of Record like Paddle or Lemon Squeezy, without crypto.

Launch checklist

  1. Write product descriptions that say exactly what the buyer receives and how to redeem it.
  2. Price in USD and tell buyers they can pay in stablecoins such as USDT or USDC.
  3. Make a real test purchase to check payment, delivery email and order tracking end to end.
  4. Tell buyers where to go if something goes wrong. On ZappSell that is order tracking and a ticket tied to their order.
  5. Share your store link where your buyers already are.

FAQ

Can I accept crypto without understanding blockchains?

Yes, on platforms where crypto checkout is built in. On ZappSell you set USD prices and add a payout wallet; checkout, confirmation and delivery are automatic.

Should I price in crypto?

Usually not. Price in USD and let checkout calculate the crypto amount. Stablecoins give buyers a predictable amount.

What about card payments?

ZappSell does not take cards. If most of your buyers pay by card, choose a card platform or a multi-gateway one.
